Prosecco is all the rage. It’s outpacing Champagne five times over and in 2020, one out of every five sparkling wine purchased was a Prosecco. On top of that, Millennials absolutely love it and it has now evolved from a brunch favorite to an everyday sparkler for every occasion. The newest and hottest craze within the Prosecco category is Prosecco Rosé, and Mionetto, who first introduced Prosecco to the United States in 1997, has just released theirs.
Mionetto Prosecco Rosé DOC Millesimato is made from 90% Glera grapes and 10% Pinot Nero – aka Pinot Noir. By DOC law, the maximum amount of Pinot Nero allowed is 15% so while Mionetto’s does offer vibrant color, it does so without changing the Glera flavor we all know and love about Prosecco. The soft pressing of the grapes which are left in contact with the skins to macerate for several days gives this extra dry style of Prosecco its beautiful pale pink color, and a unique style that is light and balanced.
Mionetto’s Prosecco Rosé follows traditional Prosecco winemaking with a few exceptions. Yes, the smaller addition of Pinot Nero grapes than what is permissible, but also a longer second fermentation (Charmat Method) of at least 60 days in temperature controlled stainless steel for a prolonged maturation gives it its honey and bread crust aromas.
With 11 consecutive IMPACT ‘Hot Brand’ Awards and 10 consecutive “Fast Track” Growth Brand Award from Beverage Dynamics, Mionetto, which was founded more than 130 years ago in 1887 and is the world’s best-selling International Prosecco, has firmly placed themselves solidly in what is sure to be a hot new Prosecco category.
And here’s a fun fact to end on. Mionetto Prosecco Rosé DOC Millesimato is also part of another craze; it’s vegan. Everyone from the Tennessee Titans to Venus Williams, Meghan the Duchess of Sussex, Mark Gmur (yup!) and Woody Harrelson, to Beyoncé and Jay Z are committed to plant-based diets. That makes this new offering from Mionetto, the Prosecco masters, the hippest, hottest, coolest wine!
