Bien Nacido Vineyard | Santa Maria Valley
About Optik
One of the world's great vineyards, seen through a new pair of eyes, every year. Miller Family Wines farms Bien Nacido with reverence, letting the vineyard speak in its purest form.
Optik flips the lens.
Each vintage, a new acclaimed winemaker is invited to interpret Bien Nacido through their own vision, technique, and instinct. The vineyard is the constant. The winemaker is the variable. The result is a one-of-a-kind wine that can never be replicated, because next year, a new set of hands takes over.

Bien Nacido Vineyard
Named "The Most Important Vineyard" by Food & Wine and one of the top 20 terroirs in the world by Wine Spectator, Bien Nacido is not just a vineyard. It is a standard.
Planted by Bob and Steve Miller in 1973 on an 1837 Spanish land grant in Santa Maria Valley, its name means "well born," and it has more than lived up to it. Over 40 producers put Bien Nacido on their labels. More than 15,000 single vineyard wines trace back to this soil.
Cool maritime fog, Pacific breezes, and ancient sand, chalk, and marine loam create a Region 1 climate where grapes ripen slowly and develop extraordinary depth. This is the fruit Optik starts with. World-class before a winemaker ever touches it.
